Family-Centered Care Assessment (FCCA): Info Specifically for Researchers

FCCA Poster
This poster was developed in partnership with HRSA.

The Family-Centered Care Assessment (FCCA) is a validated questionnaire that providers can use with families to rate the quality of care received.  It is useful to researchers for:

  • Establishing correlates of family-centeredness (e.g., communication, trust, outcomes, disparities);
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of interventions;

The FCCA is the first instrument of its kind, developed through an extensive process of engagement with families, healthcare providers, researchers, and other stakeholders.  As such, it represents a turning point for family-centered care research, converting “family-centeredness” from an abstraction to a measurable standard.
