Through involvement, outreach and training, IDS will continue work of the MS F2F as a family-focused, family-managed statewide resource center that empowers families of CYSHCN to be partners in the decisions made concerning the health of their children by promoting a collaborative system of coordinated, family-centered, community-based services.
F2F facilitates the involvement of families of CYSHCN as partners in health care decision making at all levels. F2F provides one-on-one assistance for families of CYSHCN, a forum for families and providers, superior educational opportunities, and accurately describes the needs of families and providers participating in the health care system of services.
Empowering Families with Resource to Navigate the Health Care System
The Mississippi F2F in partnership with CMP assists families in navigating complex system of health care and education. CMP coordinates pediatric multi-specialty services through the University of Mississippi Medical Center (Mississippi’s Children Hospital), and other specialty programs statewide. By placing a parent liaison within a CMP facility, the MS F2F provides families with best practice tools that empower them to make decisions that will impact their children with special health care needs. The F2F also assists professionals serving CSHCN around the state by sharing community resources.
